School Pastors

School Pastors is an initiative of Ascension Trust, working closely with local High Schools, the police and local churches to be a Christian presence on the streets as children are coming out of school.  The aim is to help young people after school to get home safely and to make our town a safer place for everyone.

School Pastors are committed Christians over the age of 18, and available to commit to one afternoon a week during the term time.  The main qualification is a love for young people. Consequently, some of the best School Pastors are often older retired people  who perhaps have a little time on their hands.  School Pastors will need a reference from their church leadership and will need to obtain an enhanced CRB disclosure.

A number of pilot projects have been operating including  one in Purley working with Thomas More High School.

Central Croydon School Pastors launched in  May 2010 partnering with St Andrews High School. Many of the new Central Croydon School Pastors are from New Life including  the members of our Jam Schools Team.
