Pastoral care

Caring is one of our core values at New Life. The Bible makes it clear that God cares for us and that, in turn, leaders in His church are to care for His “flock”. Our elders are available to talk and pray with those needing  help and advice. Please contact us at New Life if you would like to arrange an appointment to meet with an elder. If you wish to speak  to a specific elder, we suggest that you contact them directly.

However, as churches grow it becomes impossible for leaders to care properly for everyone in the fellowship. This is one of the reasons why we have a system of Home Groups at NLCC (see next section) but, in addition and bearing in mind the command that we should care for one another (1 Corinthians 12:25), in September 2010 we appointed our first 8 Pastoral Helpers, followed in November 2011 by 9 more. As the name suggests, Pastoral Helpers work alongside the church elders in pastoral ministry by visiting, encouraging, supporting and strengthening members of the church, particularly those who, for whatever reason, cannot attend a Home Group. The Helpers regularly meet with 3 or 4 of the elders to report on visits made and to discuss any issues that have arisen.

Our aim is to ensure that all who regard New Life as their spiritual home feel that they are truly valued members of the church family here and, with this in mind, we anticipate appointing more Pastoral Helpers in the future.

We also provide pastoral care through our Home Groups.

We also have pastoral care and support networks in place for young people, including youth home groups, and our Youth Leaders are always available to give help and advice to those needing it.
